Marguerita “Rita” Cheng, CFP^®, CRPC^®, currently serves on the board of directors for the Financial Planning Association^® (FPA^®), the largest membership organization for CFP^® professionals in the country, and includes many others who support the financial planning process.

Cheng is CEO at Blue Ocean Global Wealth, in Bethesda, Md. She is also a monthly columnist in the Washington Business Journal.

Cheng has held many leadership roles both locally and nationally. She has served as president of FPA of the National Capital Area. A passionate advocate for diversity, and dedicated to increasing investor education and financial empowerment in multicultural and diverse communities. Rita has served as the chair of the FPA Diversity Scholarship Sub-Committee and co-chair of the 2012 FPA Diversity Committee. She is also a CFP Board Ambassador focused on helping educate the public, policy makers and media about the benefits of competent, ethical financial planning. 

She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, College Park.
